PROJECTS IN DEVELOPMENT

The inclusion of women in the primary processing of Octopus

In the southern part of the coast a pilot program has been developed for the processing of octopus (Octopus mimus) which includes women (wives and sisters of fishermen) in the production chain of fisheries. After being trained in the proper process of extracted products, they gives them added value and generates greater income in the economy of their families.

Improve working capital

Many “caletas” are remote from the major population centers and the capital. Therefore it is difficult to obtain adequate tools or to work at affordable costs. SFT co-finances with fisherman for fishing equipment and harnesses to facilitate the work of seafarers.

Inclusion in the financial system

We keep track of purchase settlements, which allows fishermen to check their monthly income. This allows them to access credit benefits.

RESEARCH AND INNOVATION

SFT realizes services aligned with its objectives of improvement of the sector and of the main users, fishermen and coastal artisanal communities.

Study of the rural fishing coves of Chile and Peru

SFT works on the characterization of rural fishing coves in Chile and Peru. It is implementing a geographic information system (GIS) updated by the same users in order to have an up-to-date database and take concrete actions in support of small-scale fishing.

Small-Scale Aquaculture Development

SFT promotes initiatives that increase the income variability of families through the introduction of simple and affordable farming techniques.

PARTNERSHIPs

Technology in support of sustainability.

SFT has endorsed strategic alliances in order to offer simple and innovative solutions to service the industry. Thus was born the partnership with the European company Ocean Eyes. Thanks to them, we provide services for analysis and monitoring of marine surfaces, and support the fishing aquaculture sector using a mini ROV (Remote Operative Vehicule) designed to provide quality services at more affordable costs.
